Personal Bio

Dr. McIsaac's career in veterinary medicine began with a penchant for medicine and a family history of dedicated veterinarians - she comes from a family of 6 children, and her father, oldest brother and brother-in-law are all Veterinarians! Although she has found her niche in the challenges of Emergency/ICU medicine, she has also held diverse positions including: General Practice Veterinarian with the Carp Road Animal Hospital; General and Emergency Practice Veterinarian with the Ottawa Veterinary Hospital; and Diagnostician with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency Foreign Animal Disease Surveillance Unit. She came to the Alta Vista Animal Hospital 10 years ago and now is a key member of our emergency/critical care team. A caring and dedicated veterinarian, her proudest accomplishments at work come from knowing that she has saved many lives and helped to bring another day of joy to the lives of patients and their families. She considers herself very blessed to have developed many rich friendships with her clients over the years. Her thoroughness, compassion and honesty have guided many people through the often difficult decision-making process they face during an emergency with their loved one.

Dr. McIsaac and her husband became proud new parents in 2005 and their son is the love and joy of their lives. The feline family relishes the extra affection (most of the time) and enjoy the games of hide, chase and seek and relish the food treats that happen to land on the floor next to the high chair. Both cats are retired blood donors and are happy that they no longer have to make the trip to the hospital. Dr. McIsaac is hoping to start back with her fiddle lessons so that she can accompany her son on accordion, drums and piano and her husband on drums for the ultimate garage band. They enjoy camping, travelling, dancing and enjoying a glass of wine or beer with their friends and family.
