Professional Bio
Isak shares his life away from the clinic with his wife, a feline 'pal' and a rambunctious young puppy as well. "Steve-O", their cat, and "Hyde", the energetic pug mix, are a real handful, keeping them on their toes and trying to get away with things he knows he normally cannot do... even when they are staring right at him! When not at the clinic, Isak finds some time to pursue rock-climbing and the second biggest love of his life: drumming.
- B.Sc. (Agr.), Major in Animal Biology, McGill University 2002
- DVM University of Montreal 2007
Dr. Kasuto has been part of the Alta Vista Animal Hospital Emergency and Critical Care team since graduating from veterinary school in 2007. Prior to the veterinary program, he completed a Bachelor's degree in Animal Biology at McGill University.
Isak received the 'Proficiency in Emergency and Critical Care' award from the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS), which he has been a part of since graduation. This prestigious honour is awarded in recognition for his 'outstanding support to this specialty area of clinical medicine as a student at the University of Montreal, and for his commitment to caring for critically ill and injured patients assigned to him'. He is always ready for the challenges and rewards of emergency medicine in practice. As Dr. Kasuto says, "I love the fact that you get to see and handle all kinds of cases and all kinds of problems and you never know what may come through the door next."
Interested in all aspects of all aspects of medicine, Isak feels that there is a level of 'mystery' to veterinary medicine in particular that is very appealing. "The fact that our patients can't speak to us makes a certain amount of detective-like work necessary."
