Personal Bio
Dr Lynn Griffin graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1997. Following this she began her career as a mixed animal practitioner in Northern Ontario, doing everything from puppy vaccines and cat spays to farm calls in the middle of the night to help with calvings. Realizing that it was hard to learn enough to excel in both large and small animal medicine at the same time, Dr. Griffin eventually moved into the city of Ottawa to focus her learning and professional career on companion animals. Since then she has moved out west to work as an associate veterinarian at a specialty dental practice in Edmonton Alberta and to run her own successful locum business in Calgary Alberta. Last year, lured by a position at the Alta Vista Animal Hospital she moved back to Ottawa to become a part of this thriving practice. Since then she has settled in nicely, enjoying a chance to work with both the general practice and the emergency services. The learning opportunities have been incredible and becoming part of the Alta Vista team has been a very rewarding and worthwhile experience.
The best part of her career in veterinary medicine is never knowing what a day will bring. "We are so lucky to work in field with such variety and excitement, which also happens to be incredibly fulfilling. At the end of the day our only job is to be the advocate for someone's pet and to help them stay healthy, happy members of the family"
Dr. Griffin has happily also had time to work on completing many things on her own "bucket list", including hiking Macchu Pichu, going on safari in Africa, boating in Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, running a marathon, completing a triathlon, backpacking around the world, diving on the Great Barrier Reef and kayaking the Florida Everglades. Next on the list for the upcoming year - the West Coast Trail.
Dr. Griffin shares her home with her black lab, Cara and the latest bundles of craziness, her kittens, Pickles and Olive.
