Personal Bio
Dr. Hill joined the Alta Vista Animal Hospital Emergency and Critical Care team in 2007. Dr. Hill attended the University of British Columbia for undergraduate studies in agricultural science, and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College. During her studies, Madelaine enjoyed pursuing many aspects of veterinary medicine including NSERC funded animal welfare research, representing the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, and volunteering with organizations such as 'Global Vets' and 'Vets without Borders' doing international work in South America.
When not at the hospital, Madelaine enjoys belly and salsa dancing, distance running, SCUBA diving, playing the piano, traveling the globe, and spending time with her family. 'Sabine' is a sweet, petite, but sassy cat Madelaine adopted from the Guelph Humane Society and is a constant source of joy and amusement in her life.
Madelaine was impressed by the teamwork and quality of medicine she observed on a visit to Alta Vista Animal Hospital and joined the AVAH team to pursue her passion of emergency medicine. The profession has great appeal for Dr. Hill. She finds that "in addition to the excitement of emergency medicine, a veterinarian has the opportunity to participate in community issues from disease control to human-animal interactions". According to Dr. Hill, emergency medicine is an amazing way to witness the human-animal bond. "Our clients are incredible people that continue to amaze me with the care, love and dedication they give their animals."
